Marketed as top of the line, my experience has been nothing but the bottom of the barrel. After unboxing my item after delivery, I immediately noticed there were issues compared with my prior experience of past models. The new panel in HDR mode, probably due to software issue, lost 25% nits brightness and looks pastel like compared with my 2022 model from work. Keyboard also stopped functioning frequently that I had to uninstall the HID drivers several times and reboot to work. Also frequently freezes and mouse locks in MUX mode, even after 3 full Windows resets. QC for both hardware and software has been immensely lacking from ASUS for an item falling under the premium/professional/luxury price range. ASUS has agreed to extend my warranty by an additional 90 days, but I recommend purchasing with caution, especially for the price. The kicker, no overclocks, straight out of the box and now I’m sending it straight back to ASUS.

This is a very brief review to provide a counterbalance to those that seem to have issues. The machine is beautifully made and I have not had a single issue. What I would say is the following. I prefer the keyboard of the Zenbook. It has a slightly harder landing and click. The Zephyrus is is less sharp. However, I am guessing that this is related to the colour functionality. It takes getting use to the keyboard and training memory muscle because of the layout. I have no problems with the trackpad at all – but I would have preferred that Asus had been courageous and removed the trackpad entirely for a bigger keyboard, and just forced use of a mouse. My view on this may change over time. Worth noting I am a content creator rather than gamer – it’s possible I should have chosen the Zenbook Duo over the Zephyrus duo to access a better keyboard. I chose the Zephyrus because I prefer the design. The screen, although not OLED which I am use to, is great. It’s better built than the Zenbooks I have had previously (non Duo) – but in the sense that this machine has complexity, and that complexity has been integrated beautifully. My Zenbooks however have all survived drops – I am not sure this would. It is being used as a Desktop Replacement, so should not have this issue. In real life, as opposed to photos, the machine looks much better. The lid is subtle, but beautifully done. There is nothing tacky about this machine. In reviews it looks OTT – it isn’t. I recommend turning off all the keyboard effects and have a single colour. It is impossible to tape with rainbow effects and it gives you a headache – as fascinating as these are. Worth noting too that in reviews it looks like this machine is big and chunky. It isn’t.; it is very svelte. There is nothing boxy here at all. It’s actually elegant. The biggest issue for me is the power cable. The length of stretch from the supply to the power port is ridiculously short. This means you cannot put the brick on the floor – it has to sit on your desk, rather than be hidden. Ludicrous. I am waiting to test the small 100W USB supply to get rid of this clunky brick sitting on my desk. They should have succeeded in getting the power port at the back to. I am guessing they tried, but it was not possible. The port is near the front on the left side. Having it hear undoes some of the svelteness they have achieved. So… yes the brick is badly designed. The panel (a Nebula HD, rather than the switchable) is lovely. These are the future over basic IPS. I have no light bleed, no dead pixels – arrived A 1 perfect. This review is for content creators – not for gamers as I do not play games. I am then, completely the wrong market to be writing this for the majority of users of this machine, but for content creators out there, looking to have something that is not a simple dull slab, it probably does not get better. You sit at your desk for hours; having something fascinating and beautiful as your daily partner in work matters to me at least. This is about as good as it can get.

The two screens says it all. And its very thoughtfully designed. There can be some minor inconveniences depending on your use case, which can mostly be solved in some way. e.g. theres no arrow keys AND page up down available at the same time on the keyboard (you can quickly switch between these with a toggle button).

The media could not be loaded. I was lucky with this model. Everything works fine even after a year of everyday usage.

Perfect for work (content / computer graphics creation) – no need for big heavy external screens on the desk anymore. Workflow suddenly became extremely more mobile, remote & flexible thanks to this huge & bright screen. The colours are true, rich, and contrasting.

The second screen is no more than a fancy bonus. Although, I agree that after this feature you can’t look at another laptop without sorrow. This invention is genius!

And the open space below the secondary screen indeed makes the fan work efficient, so the keyboard never heats up.

The second screen is most useful for displaying reference images, music player and other secondary tools. Same quality as the main screen, just twice less pixels in height resolution. The width resolution is the same as on the main screen. Additionally in this model, the second screen is touchable. The main is not.

Battery lasts for a half working day on average (much less on rendering CGI).

The power adapter is quite heavy though. Makes me thinking twice before taking the laptop anywhere on my back. But it is fine for frequent changing the working place between the rooms and kitchen.

In general, I would strongly recommend this model as the home workstation if you don’t want to mess with desktop.

The laptop size is perfect as well. Not as massive as Asus STRIX with 4090 or not as miniature as Asus Vivobook. Simply nice dimensions for travel & remote gaming.

And most likely you will play games more often because this model is made for gaming! Can’t deny it.

Never had to turn on Turbo fan mode. All 2022 games were working fine in the usual Performance mode. Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, RDR2, SW Battlefront II, SW Squadrons and other AAA-hits..

I do not care about FPS or RTX in favour of storytelling, so true hardcore gamers might find this model not strong enough for their standards. For me, personally, this machine is exceeding my humble requirements.

Also, it is a bit unusual to have two USB-type C ports. Had to get used to this. Thanks, at least there are still two normal USB ports for mouse and external HDD.

Oh, 2Tb SSD is something! Finally, I stopped dropping files between HDDs to free up some extra space for rendering.

The price though was a bit biting in my time. As I see now, a year later, it dropped a bit, but still a serious investment if you are buying this machine for work & pleasure. Still, I see what I paid for and there is some quality indeed.

My vote is for 2-screen laptops! This should stay in the future.
