Sometimes , your tech devices just deserve a damn good beating. Recently, 2 of my devices annoyed me simultaneously to the extent that I had no choice but to use my samsung tablet to administer a righteous beating to my laptop. Fate decreed that the tablet would emerge unscathed, while the laptop never regained consciousness. It’s re-assuring to know that the offending laptop will never ever annoy me again. Ever. So far, the Asos has proved an excellent replacement. It is so quick and compliant. It does absolutely everything I ask it to do and somehow, it has achieved speeds far ,far in excess of the old (and much more expensive) laptop. I hope that the new laptop is able to maintain this stellar performance.

ASUS would not publish my review of its x1500EA Laptop so I thought I’d post it here:
Good looking, slim and surprisingly fast.
It came with some pre-installed bloatware. McAfee nagged me to install and buy it when Microsoft Defender software is built in for free. Edge opened every time I turned the computer on advertising Deathloop. Took me a while to get rid of both.
Looked to contact customer services by phone about camera not working but that was almost impossible. (I couldn’t find a way. Others might.) Managed to sort the problem using Google. (Hint: Press F10 to turn camera on and off.)
This model only has 256GB of storage but it is an SSD, so very fast. I use OneDrive (Other cloud storage is available) so need very little to be stored on the computer.
The screen and keyboard are fine.
To sum up: Recommended it for a friend then bought one for myself!
Only 4 stars as it can’t make the tea!

I am not a tehno but am delighted with this laptop…I was nervous but very easy to set up. Use it for basic stuff & find it very quick. Not bothered with lack of keyboard light & the keyboard is a delight to use. The screen is not extremely bright even at 100% but that saves my eyes so not complaining. For me the battery lasts as stated & the charge time is also correct. It’s robust which I love as I have no fear of breaking something so can speed up my usage. In fact it has given me confidence to use the variety of options offered…saying a lot for a non-tech! I spoke to the Asus team reregistration & got through quick for free. They were very helpful which is also a major plus. Regarding the sound it’s not perfect but I have got use to & am now very happy with the quality. If you’re looking for a laptop for basic, common usage I would highly recommend.

I purchased the laptop for my daughter to do school work on. After booting it up it became ridiculously slow after a matter of minutes and then stopped completely. I sent the item back for a refund however the seller will only refund 80% of the cost as the return was after 7 days. The seller was blue-fish however they appear to have changed their name now making me think this is actually a scam. I will be taking this further with Amazon!

It’s a perfect little machine. It will carry out most windows based tasks with ease. It can be a little slow if you’re multi-tasking with multiple programs open, but on the whole it works extremely well. Definitely not for gaming or working with complex graphics software. Having said that, if you increase the RAM then maybe.

This is a good quality laptop from a well known brand. I use it for day to day web browsing and office work.
The performance is fairly snappy and the video quality is excellent, Youtube is stutter free.
The keyboard is ok with a good positive action. A backlight would have been nice but it’s omission is understandable at the price.
Windows 11 is included. It is pre configured in S Mode which is a pain. You can’t install any program or app outside the MS store. Thankfully you can turn this “Stupid” mode off and get full control of the device you paid for.
This is not a gaming laptop so don’t expect to play modern games on it. It will run some older titles with reduced settings though.
I have updated the memory to 16gb at a cost of £20 available here on Amazon (Crucial RAM 8GB DDR4 3200MHz CL22) for an 8 gig stick. It was easy enough to do.
I intend to install an additional ssd, there is a an internal bay for a 2.5 inch drive and the kit is also available here on Amazon for £9 .
This is a bargain laptop and highly recommended.

With my old laptop starting to become unreliable, I was in the market for a new laptop. I wanted to have something which could cope with day to day tasks without coming close to its limits in order to cope over the longer term.
The SSD means start up is quick and most tasks are performed quickly and without fuss. the screen is good without being great – one positive is that the screen doesn’t seem to suffer too badly from reflections. Also, the battery has impressed me so far (not too hard after my old laptop only lasted 15 mins). This battery cruises past 4-5hours without being pressed too hard. If you are careful, I would guess 8-9 hours would be possible.
pros:
+ great value for money
+ Good amount of storage
+ enough RAM to cope with most things
+good screen
+ full numpad without the keyboard feeling too cramped
+ Enough storage for most families
+ up to date Windows fully supported with updates from windows
cons:
– not too many I have come across yet, I find it annoying that you have to press the Fn button to do what I consider to be the normal functions of the F buttons – e.g. f12 access “my Asus” rather than “save as” in word etc.
Overall: I would thoroughly recommend this laptop – after searching for quite a while this one seemed the best value for money and I would suggest you won’t be disappointed if you buy this.
