Laptop is all plastic but has very little flex and feels solid to hold. It also looks far more tasteful than other devices in this bracket.
I purchased this in the hopes that it could be used for gaming as well as general and creative use.
Despite the beefy specs, the laptop does not perform well for gaming. It runs very hot, and stutters even on the lowest graphics settings on 5 year old games. A shame, but it was worth a try!

Vivobook Pro 15 M6500XV
Cons first. You MIGHT get half a day on battery power. It comes with bloatware. OOB for a secure wireless network is hard work. Screen banding on high res images. Not super lightweight. Chunky power supply.
Pros. Fast! As of May 2024 it performs very well both for processor intensive and video intensive apps. Bright clear screen (not OLE) though colour banding is apparent on a gradiant colour fill.
Touch pad is okay, none of the clicky plasticky feel mentioned in other reports. Backlit keyboard has a clean comfortable feel for fast typing. Doesn’t run as hot as expected, even when video editing. Though the processor can hit 50 degrees AMD spec the processor much higher and fans are not really noisy.
Ships with W11 home so some features are not available, including an easy way to set up. OOB W11 without a network, or on a secured network (I.E. getting connected) is difficult. Until a USB keyboard was plugged in we couldn’t get started as the correct key functions couldn’t be achieved. But once connected only the bloatware was problematic, and only if you have a concern about privacy. Oh, and it has a chunky 140w power supply.
Delivery was late. In our case probable scam attempt. Amazon sorted out the problem, but it was stressful, and left us with TWO laptops. One late arrival, the second purchased because the order was technically cancelled and a monster V.A.T. adjustment.
Overall: Recommended; safe choice; unlikely to be dissapointed.

Only downside is battery life, DO NOT take this around and about without the charger, it’s lucky to last an hour and a half 😂

The laptop has LED bleed around the edges, generates a lot of heat, even when idle and on charge. The trackpad was loose, so made clicking noises when just scrolling.
Positives – Good overall build quality on the casing and shell. Very good price for specs.
Negatives – Defective unit. Too much heat, bad quality screen and loose trackpad.
I wanted a replacement. But Amazon said that they could either repair it or I could return it, but they would not replace it. The price went up by £250! I should have bought it from another retailer. Too much time wasted with Amazon on trying to get a replacement.

The laptop itself performs well, no complaints.
The charger, however, is hands down the single worst charger I’ve had the displeasire of using. The cable is entirely too short, and even when not stretched out, it completely stopped working within 4 months due to poor assembly.

I used to always buy Dell XPS 15s but with the price now being nearly £2.5k I decided to look for someting a little cheaper, especially as it’s not my main work device now. Came across this vivobook and throught it looked good so bought it.
AMAZING! Will never go back to an XPS, everything that matters about this laptop is better. The screen is insane! Really nice keyboard with number pad, no deck flex. Speakers are good enough. Track pad is big and feels nicely smooth with no stickiness. Performance is awesome. It looks great. I will be sticking with Asus Vivobook from now on

Handles video editing extremely well and is great at uploading and downloading large files. It has a good range of input ports. Colours on screen are great. It’s taken a while to get used to the position of the on button because it is so different to all my previous laptops which I am still using. Nice styling too. I’ve been overdue for an upgraded device, but it’s been worth the wait.

From what I’ve experienced so far this laptop is has a nice build, has a nice keyboard and nice quality display I don’t think its oled but its 2.8k and gets decently bright. Its fast so it can handle CAD/ Coding for Engineering students and can play AAA games at 120 fps+ on low settings such as Fortnite. Fan noise when under stress is a bit loud but not in an obnoxious way like an old gen console. And it doesn’t get uncomfortably hot on the keyboard or under the laptop but it blows very warm air on the left side vents. Some downsides I’ve already noticed is that the sound quality is 5/10 at best, it can get somewhat loud but the actually quality for a laptop is just meh. This doesn’t matter if you use speakers/ earphones often like me. The battery is also mid. It’s more of a 3-4 hour use laptop rather than an 8+ hour one. Also the trackpad is a little rattly, it almost feels worn out before you hear the audible click. So I’m worried about the longevity of it down the line in 5 years.
I haven’t experienced any backlighting, extremely poor battery or any major faults that would make this laptop a deal breaker.
I will try and give an update review after using it for a month or 2. Until then, I highly recommend this laptop for most students and casual-competitive gamers

5.0 out of 5 stars Very fast, fantastic OLED screen and excellent battery life.
I7-12650, UHD. This laptop is a bit of a beast. It’s fast, CPU benchmarks put it in the top 25% of all PCs tested, desktop and laptop, and the onboard GeoForce 3050Ti graphics give it pretty good graphics performance for a laptop.
The UHD 4k OLED screen really is excellent, inky blacks, super high contrast, vivid colours and fast refresh… and a nice big screen for those large spreadsheets.
Keyboard is quite OK, backlight is bit variable but it does the job. SSD is pretty quick, not up some of the latest SSDs perhaps but it isn’t going to keep you hanging around waiting at sequential reads of about 3,000 MB/s and writes of 1676 Mb/s.
Minor gripes are that the separate PSU is quite chunky and heavy (it’s 150 Watts and ~ 460g) but the PC can be charged via the USB C port instead at pretty decent speeds with a much lighter 100Watt multi-port USB-C charger. Unfortunately there is only one USB-C port, which is the second minor gripe, two.. one with Power Delivery and one for accessories (i.e a fast external SSD or Video) would be ideal.
Those were minor gripes though and overall I’m really really impressed, an excellent high-end laptop.

This is an outstanding laptop. With its Intel i7-13650HX processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070, it handles intensive tasks and gaming with ease. The 16″ 2.8K 165Hz display is stunning, delivering sharp, vibrant visuals – and has great viewing angles. It is also apparently more power efficient than the OLED version (and not prone to screen burn).
Its 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD provide ample speed and storage. Running Windows 11, it’s smooth and user-friendly. Highly recommended for power users and gamers alike!
