The display is simply stunning, offering vibrant colors and deep blacks that makes the overall use of an laptop unparallel with a 90 Hz refresh rate giving it a very smooth experience I could write an essay about how compelling and exquisite the screen is it self but I’ll diverge… The touchscreen functionality adds an extra layer of accessibility, making navigation and tasks a breeze with a simple tap or swipe allowing me to utilise it to make notes for university.
The battery can range from okay to good, depending on your day to day task. For basic tasks like web browsing and word processing, you can expect around 4 to 6 hours of usage, which is reasonable. However, if you’re tackling more demanding activities like video editing or gaming (on lower settings), you might see it drop to around to no more than 2 to 4 hours. It’s not the best however I STRONGLY RECOMMEND turning battery saver on when doing basic task to maximise battery usage hours. Honestly the battery life should be better for it’s price but it is an OLED touchscreen so don’t be too disgruntled & dissatisfied.
Design-wise, the ASUS VivoBook 14 OLED is a elegant stunner. Generally one of my favourite designs the laptop is sleek, minimal and modern with an aesthetic hint of abstract pattern that sets it apart from the competition. The slim profile and compact form factor make it easy to carry around for school, business meetings, or just personal use. Plus, the addition of the fingerprint scanner adds a layer of security and convenience that I really appreciate. Also to appreciate the exquiste faded dimmed blue colour it’s very unique and settling compared to a generic colour.
One thing to highlight is the fan can get extremely loud, especially when you’re not even pushing the laptop to its limits it can get noisy just by web browsing AT TIMES and the over heating is ludicrous. However if you want there is an option when clicking “F12 which will take you to the myAsus software > customisation > power & performance > Fan profile then adjust it to either Performance, Standard or Whisper mode recommend whisper mode when in school or in some type of work related station ” but performance will be affected by this. One of the grace here is the fantastic dolby atmos speakers. They offer crisp, clear sound quality, which is great for multimedia and casual gaming. It also give you the option to adjust your sound quality to your desires.
Following on the ASUS app is great it really shows the care for the user experience, allowing you to adjust the performance, disply, battery, sound, fan etc.. it gives you reports that you can run to check each hardware and software feature as well as a customer support section, you should mess around with the myAsus to find what suits you best.
Speaking of gaming, the ASUS VivoBook 14 OLED can run pretty much every game at light to high/max in some instances wouldn’t recommed playing high demanding games at ultra high max settings but you can play pretty much every game as it’s integretaed “Iris XE” Graphic Card supports modern graphics. This is not a gaming laptop so you what you get I was able to run GTA 5 high settings and Destiny 2 low/mid settings.
One thing to mention it didn’t come with the number pad option on the touchpad, not sure why but It’s not necessary for me but a bit of false advertisment, the touchpad is also good. “Edit this is for the core i7 version and greater model etc..” they should specify this at least
I got it on a discount deal getting it for £674 even without the discount it DEFINITY WORTH THE VALUE. This laptop offers a fantastic OLED display, a fingerprint scanner, and an overall eccentric design for its price range. However, there’s a catch – the camera. Given the laptop’s price point, I expected better quality (not the worse just be in a good lighting area) from the built-in camera, don’t expect high-end video quality here.
In conclusion, the ASUS VivoBook 14 OLED is a versatile laptop that’s well-suited for various tasks, from school and business to personal use and light gaming. Its gorgeous OLED display, sleek design, and thoughtful features like the fingerprint scanner and backlit keyboard make it a compelling choice. Just be prepared to deal with the fan noise. For the price, it’s amazing all around, offering impressive value for those who prioritize a top-notch display and design and high quality specs.
