2.0 out of 5 stars Not very good unfortunately
I got this for a good price but I am disappointed with it.

It runs most programs fine but I find it is really poor when it comes to gaming. It’s OK for things like snooker but if you’re looking for something for anything heavier than that I’d suggest you save up a bit more and get something more suited.

The fan is also a bit loud when the system is converting videos and stuff. Id suggest getting a cooling mat or something to help keep everything cool.

There is a lack of USB ports too. You’ll probably need to get a Hub to expand it.

The battery is OK for normal use but if you use it for videos or games you’re gonna need it plugged in constantly or it will be dead in under an hour.

The memory is gonna need to be upgraded but I only just found out that there is already 4GB of the 8GB available built into the motherboard so it is not up-gradable and the the other slot can only take about 8GB meaning the max memory will be about 12GB. Not too bad I suppose but I hate the concept of built in anything but especially RAM.

I don’t think the battery is removable either. I haven’t opened the back of it so I can only assume it is built in too. Not good if it needs replacing.

The windows 10S is easy enough to get rid of with a little help from online videos and I was then able to update to Windows 11.

The worst thing about it is the mouse pad and buttons. They are extremely loud, feel terrible and are very sticky. I have to press the buttons twice way too often for a modern laptop. I see myself buying a mouse real soon.

So basically I bought a pretty good laptop but that’s as far as I can go. I am going to end up spending even more money trying fix the issues like the USB’s, the mouse pad, cooling pad, RAM and by having to have it plugged in a lot and the possible need of a new mouse … it kinda stops being a laptop.

If you are just looking for an everyday machine to use with word processing etc its a good buy but anything much more than that then I’d suggest looking elsewhere.

3.0 out of 5 stars The warranty runs out before you have a chance to boot up the laptop.
My laptop was delivered on 9th January and Lenovo have just informed me that my warranty ran out 90 days ago. How can this be true? Was this laptop sold to someone else and returned?

5.0 out of 5 stars Its Ok
The product seems fine except for some reasons which include the quality of the screen, the Windows S feature and the inbuilt 4GB Ram which is not upgradable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Problem setting up
Bought this laptop for my son as he will be stating his GCSE’s in September and the other laptops we have in the household are over 10 yrs old and very slow. Gave to our computer expert friend to add all the extras we wanted on it only to be told that it looked like it had been preowned by someone, even though it said it was a brand now laptop. He had to completely wipe the laptop and start again as was unable to work around the settings that had been added. Once this was done it ran perfectly and our friend said it was a very high spec laptop. As it is for his school work can’t rate the gaming side of it as he is not allowed to use it for that sort of thing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dreadful – (Not Responding)
This is an awful computer. I have a few websites running continuously. I thought even a £380 laptop would manage. Not this one. Every 10 mins or so I it stalls (Not Responding). Just absolutely dreadful performance. Feel like I have been conned here. How on Earth have people given this awful machine more than 1 star. Very poor reflection on Amazon allowing such a poor machine to be given close to 5 stars. There’s clear corruption here because this is so far from being 5 star. Defective. Avoid at all costs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it – once I’d understood (and removed) Windows S
I love this laptop. I got rid of both my desktop and laptop and this replaces both. The graphics are clear and the speed is great. It had Windows S mode on it which was very confusing but I looked on YouTube how to remove that and now it works fine. (you can’t reverse it if you like S mode but I am much happier without it.)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good laptop
This is a good laptop for what I needed, i.e I7 to run spectrum analyser software at a decent speed. Unfortunately it arrived with Win 11S loaded not win10S as advertised. It has been quite an effort to downgrade back to win10 including reverting to win 11 from 11S, removing encryption from hard drive and then downloading win 10. After 3 days I now have the win10 laptop I need as it does a good job running the older software not compatible with win 11.

5.0 out of 5 stars For normal (non gaming use), this laptop is fantastic.
After spending 6 months using the laptop.

Perfect for all usage types other than hardcore gaming.

The gaming graphics capability is medium/low power,

but for all office and video/social media use, its excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing performance from the new 8505 processor
I needed a replacement for my ever reliable but now ageing Lenovo Ideapad Core i5 8400 laptop. I noticed the specs of the new Pentium Gold 8505 were significantly higher than the previous 7505 model and decided I’d go for this model along with an additional 8Gb memory upgrade since I do independent software development with Visual Studio 2022.

I’m absolutely blown away by the truly excellent performance of the machine. It’s sold essentially as an entry level general purpose laptop for browsing and office but it copes easily with my development needs and is much quicker than my old i5.

What I would recommend though is spending the extra £20 or so on the 8Gb upgrade (giving 12Gb in total). Windows 11 eats RAM so if you are intending doing anything more than browsing and maybe the odd bit of MS Office then you’ll appreciate the extra capacity.

The screen quality is again excellent as is the keyboard. The built-in mouse pad is accurate and fine for occasional use or if your work is mainly keyboard driven. However if you are doing a full shift with lots of mouse manipulation then, like all the laptops I’ve used (and that’s plenty), you’ll want to plug in an external USB mouse.

I haven’t used the built-in webcam but it’s the the usual 720P standard laptop type so it’s likely to be good rather than brilliant.

I’ve just bought a second machine to act as a development database server. With lower end processors like this, unless you are doing something like CAD or gaming then there really isn’t any real need to go to the expense of an i3 or i5.
